CCR Draft 2

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

To market our magazine, we decided to take ideas from other well-known magazines and implement them into our plan. We will have a range of active social media platforms, such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to interact with the younger populations as well as give sneak peeks into new issues like National Geographic does. This is one reason why they are still relevant after over 100 years of being in business. We also took ideas from the Smithsonian magazine to create a website and have a subscription button to subscribe and another to sign up for emails on new topics, special offers, and looks on the new issue as well. As soon as the website loads, we took the idea from Scientific American in that the subscription button would pop up right away at the reader for quick and easy access as well as to show persistence on subscribing. They also sponsor and hold events to get their name out which I thought was a good idea and did as well. They also have internet ads on frequently visited science and technology websites.
To distribute our magazine, we decided to hire a distribution agency who would be able to circulate throughout the country. I found an agency called TGS Media Distribution which meets all of my criteria and gives reports on on my magazine's movements and how it is doing. We would also take some digital distribution ideas we found researching other magazines. Such as Popular Science and National Geographic who has their magazines available on apps for tablets, phones, and more mobile devices which gives the reader the ability to read it anywhere. They both also have a website where past issues are found in the archives and the newest issue is at the top and can be reached with a subscription. A final idea I found was mimicking National Geographic's limited time offer ideas, so viewers have the impulsive feeling of subscribing because they are getting a better offer than usual.
